Pre-employment surveys

Investigation agencies are able to support companies by carrying out in-depth pre-employment investigations. Such in-depth investigations are a useful tool in the hands of companies to contain the risks associated with the candidate evaluation and recruitment process.

This type of investigation is essentially related to the reliability of candidates and thee information contained in their résumés, ascertaining the truthfulness or otherwise of the professional training and previous work experience they have declared.

Nowadays, in fact, it is common to come across inconsistencies between declared work experience and the actual experience of the candidates. The lack of due diligence when assessing the professional figures to be included in your workforce can cause negative repercussions for companies. You think, for example, of the loss of the time-factor (i.e. the amount of hours invested on the employee’s training), of the economic costs borne for having hired profiles not in line with the company's expectations and objectives, as well as, in the most serious cases, of the adverse impact they suffer in terms of reputation when an employee and/or former employee damages their image (for example, by publishing online defamatory content).

Considering said assumptions, it is therefore understood that it is good practice, before proceeding with the recruitment of one or more candidates, to check whether what is stated in the résumé tallies with the truth. This verification increases the likelihood that the working relationship will be fruitful and profitable for both parties.

The verification will be executed at various levels, starting from the information released by the candidate, which will be collected and correlated, through the technique of data cross-referencing, with information from public sources as well as with information found through investigative activities. These investigation activities are able to reconstruct the reasons for the termination of previous employment relationships, as well as the previous salaries received, the duration of previous employment relationships, the qualifications, duties and roles held in the past, and the verification of educational and professional qualifications. In addition, it is also possible to return information related to prejudicial events that have affected the applicant's personal sphere (protests, foreclosures, bankruptcies and other negative events).

To conclude, the purpose of pre-employment surveys is to provide companies with a picture of the future employee, not only in terms of the reliability of his or her résumé and skills and competences, but above all in terms of the reliability of his or her party and reputation, especially when he or she is to play an important role within the company structure.
